Eshelman Speaks at TEAM St. Louis Conference
Marc Eshelman recently gave a presentation at the annual Transportation Engineers Association of Metropolitan (TEAM) St. Louis conference in Maryland Heights, MO. On October 7, 2009, Mr. Eshelman spoke to a crowd about the history and future of the North Tucker Boulevard Bridge in downtown St. Louis. The bridge, built in the 1930’s, runs from Washington Avenue to O’Fallon and abuts several buildings, including the Post Dispatch and St. Patrick Center. The bridge was originally built by Illinois Terminal Railroad to allow electric passenger and freight rail cars to travel underground through downtown
St. Louis after crossing the McKinley Bridge from Illinois. After rail traffic ended, the City of St. Louis began searching for an effective way to replace the badly deteriorated structure. With the help of ARRA stimulus funding, the City is beginning construction of the first phase, including EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) fill material, sanitary sewer construction, rain gardens and utility relocation.
