Professional Experience
Marjorie L. Melton is the chief executive officer of M3 Engineering Group PC.  She  has more than 30 years of experience in environmental engineering and project management.  She is the former President of the St. Louis Board of Public Service where she  had a staff of over 220 and a combined operating and capital budget of more than $65 million.  

Project Experience
Carondelet Recreation Center, St. Louis, Missouri. Project Executive.  This project included the design and construction of a 75,000 square-foot recreation facility with indoor and outdoor pools, gymnasiums, fitness center and indoor running track.  The facility was designed in accordance with the US Green Building Council standards and has attempted enough credits to achieve gold certification. The LEED features  include for sustainable site development, construction and installation of water efficient  devices and structures, energy efficient design, he use of regional and recycled materials, design elements and construction practices to minimize impacts to indoor air quality and innovative design for pool water conservation.   

 

O’ Fallon Recreation Center, St. Louis, Missouri. North Tucker Boulevard Bridge Elimination, St. Louis, Missouri. Project Executive.  Feasibility Study and design of replacement for an existing 3,000 foot bridge in downtown St. Louis.  The bridge abuts several multi-story buildings and will be replaced with an alternative to an elevated structure.  Study alternatives included EPS Block Foam, CSO storage unit for MSD and traditional fill material.

Jefferson Avenue Bridge Replacement, St. Louis, Missouri. Project Executive.  Design and replacement of the existing bridge spanning the entire Chouteau viaduct, crossing over a significant number of railroad tracks including those for Metrolink.

 

Grand Avenue Bridge, St. Louis, Missouri. Project Executive.  Design, replacement and seismic upgrade of the bridge structure, improvements to the approaches to the bridge, addition of transit pullouts to accommodate transit bus service, improvement of existing light rail transit stations, and improvements of the pedestrian walkways. The existing bridge was constructed in 1959 and is significantly deteriorated.  This bridge is a major north/south connection to the Grand Center, St. Louis University and many other points of interest.  Two light rail transit stations are located on the bridge.  The new structure will remove the safety risks inherent with travel on a deteriorating structure, provide a safer, more aesthetically pleasing transit service for those who use the bus and light rail systems, provide safer pedestrian facilities for students and others, and create a long-lasting improvement that will unify the Saint Louis University campuses.

 

Bridge Maintenance Program, St. Louis, Missouri. Project Executive. The objective of the Bridge Management System is to ensure limited bridge funds are spent in the best possible manner to minimize the bridges’ lifecycle costs, and that defensible, justifiable bridge programs and budgets were developed. The required resources were determined annually and submitted to the City’s Capital Committee for inclusion in each year’s budget.  Develop an appropriate funding application for the projects.

Various Enhancement Projects, St. Louis, Missouri. Project Executive.  Enhancement projects are those projects that improve the aesthetic value of the transportation corridor.  These projects replace sidewalks, add plantings, curb bump outs, and/or pedestrian lighting.  Participated in the design and/or construction of the following notable projects:

MLK Boulevard. City limits to Kingshighway. Sidewalk, Curb, Landscaping, Pedestrian Lighting, Signal Modification.

Manchester Avenue. Taylor to Sarah.  Sidewalk widening, curb replacement, landscaping, and signal modification.

Halls Ferry Circle. Design of a roundabout

Salisbury Enhancement. Natural Bridge to West. Florissant.  Sidewalk replacement, curb replacement, landscaping, pedestrian lighting, and installation of street furniture.

South Grand Ave. Arsenal to Utah.  Sidewalk replacement, curb replacement, landscaping, pedestrian lighting, and signal modification.
